Oldham Athletic are currently managed by Dave Penney who left Darlington to join the Latics at the end of the 2008/2009 season. Penney's first game in charge will be at the start of the 2009/10 season giving Penney the whole of pre-season to build his own Latics squad.
The club has been under it's present ownership since 2004-05 when Simon Blitz, Simon Corney and Danny Gazal (the three amigos) purchased the club following the departure of Chirs Moore who left the club with huge debts and on the brink of liquidation.

Penney was confirmed as the Oldham Athletic Manager on 30th April 2009, when it was confirmed that Joe Royle would be leaving the club following his second stint as manager. Penney's first job in managment was as the Doncaster Rovers boss in 2002, he took Doncaster back into the Football League via the play-offs in 2002-03. In their first season back in the Football League Penney managed Rovers to the Third Division title. Dave Penney then joined Darlington in 2006 before resigning in 2009 to be appointed as Athletic Manager.
